くいあわせ【食い合わせ】

1 〔食物の〕 the bad effect of (certain) things eaten together.

●食い合わせが悪い have an ill effect when eaten together; be unsuitable for eating in combination; do not go (well) together

・ウナギと梅干しは食い合わせが悪いとされている. Eels and pickled plums are said not to go well together.

・エビとの食い合わせが悪かったに違いない. Something I ate with the shrimps must have disagreed with me [must have disagreed with the shrimps].
